Fantasy Island recibe un cambio de imagen de película de terror, cortesía de Blumhouse

Blumhouse Productions has such a 50/50 approach to some material. Sometimes they manage to produce some really interesting projects, such as the first two purga películas o Insidiosoo El Experimento Belkoo Feliz día de la muerteo El infierno verde, or the inventive action film Actualizar. However, they also have a lot of other lame projects like Get Out, Glass, or all those worthless Actividad Paranormal flicks. Their latest big project features a lot of mid-tier actors and actresses in a horror-movie remake of the popular television series, Isla de la Fantasía.

The trailer feels more like a pitch for a television series than a movie given how complex and layered it is and how much they have to try to explain within the two and a half minute runtime. It makes me wonder if the movie is either going to be really long or really rushed, because it seems like the trailer has to convey a lot of context in a very short amount of time. You can check it out below courtesy of Kinocheck Internacional.

The film follows a handful of guests who have been invited to the island, where apparently their wildest dreams can come true… literally.

However, the guests receive a caveat: whatever their wish is will be fulfilled but they have to follow it through to the end.

I’m not entirely sure what that means, but I suppose that’s the hook to bait you into actually seeing the movie.

We see that one guy apparently engages in what looks like a Call of Duty: Zombies sessions, while Maggie Q seems to want to see her dead daughter again, and the blonde chick at first wants to see a childhood nemesis get tortured and kill just until she has second thoughts on the whole thing.

It’s tough to tell which way the movie will go, but it at least does look interesting and it would be remiss not to point out that I’m at least somewhat intrigued to find out exactly what the island wants in return.

I suppose we’ll find out the big mystery when Isla de la Fantasía hits theaters on February 14th, 2020.
